I discovered lovethislife while celebrating good times last April with friends in Half Moon Bay, California. After our relaxing day at the spa, we were browsing in the shop and I found a happy, yellow shirt with the lovethislife manifesto on the back. I bought that shirt because the message really resonated with me.
The message reminded me of all of the things that I learned from my friend Barbara: live in the present, forget about the past, and stop worrying about the future; that it is never to late to learn something new, reinvent yourself; to celebrate you, all that you have accomplished, all that you have, and all of your family and friends. Do it now as we are not guaranteed nor can we really control anything. Time is precious and a terrible thing to waste!
lovethislife is the brain child of David Culiner. It is collection of meaningful and inspirational lyrics put to music that all can relate to. David is a musician who has created a line of clothing and jewelry that are additional avenues to spread his messages to the world.
You can really get a flavor of his work and listen to his down-tempo, electroacoustic music at lovethislife. David’s statement “…obstacles are launch pads and that you can harness & harvest all that you dare to manifest regardless of the majority sway to the contrary. own & unleash your magnificence,”is something that I want to remember and to live by. Turning a negative – the obstacle, into something positive and meaningful; own it, work it, and shine!
Last Thursday, I spent some time with my girlfriend Marie-Jose who is visiting from Hong Kong. Though it
has been a year since we have seen each other, it was like we had never been apart. We had fun chatting and catching up with all of the details of our very different lives. During lunch, Marie-Jose presented me with a wonderful surprise. It was a bracelet that ironically correlates with the lovethislife theme. The leather wrap is adorned with a dangling letter “B.” Marie-Jose immediately pointed out that the “B” represented “BE;” to exist, or to live. Each time that I see the dangling “B,” it trigers me to remember to live, be in the present and to love my life.
I hope that you find your own meaning from David Culiner’s manifesto and music; find your own
dangling “B” so that you too can be reminded to be present and lovethislife!
One life is all we have and we live it as we believe in living it. But to sacrifice what you are and to live without belief, that is a fate more terrible than dying….Joan of Arc
